Indoor Soccer Rules & Regulations

Laws of the game for Sportsplex Indoor Soccer Leagues (SISL)

USSF Rules & Regulations with the following exceptions:

 

  • Rule 1: 

The field of play is 35 x 70 yards.

There is NO slide tackling in Sportsplex league games.  (Exception Goalies in their own box)

 

  • Rule 2: 

Adult & Youth leagues play 7v7 (6 field players + goalkeeper).  Exception u14 & under, 8v8.

Adult Co-Ed leagues must play with a minimum 3 Girls.

Minimum number of players must be 4 field players + goalkeeper.

 

  • Rule 3:

All players must wear shin guards.

All players must have a numbered jersey (Youth).

No Metal Cleats (Molded Cleats are Permitted)

There will be NO jewelry worn during the game.

 

  • Rule 4:

The duration of a game will be (2) twenty-five (25) minute halves.

There will be two (2) minutes between the half.

A forfeit will occur after ten (10) minutes of a scheduled game time.

 

  • Rule 5:

All teams must hand in a roster. Any team wanting to field an unrostered player has to get permission from the opposing team before the game starts. A forfeit will occur if a team plays with a player not on the CURRENT roster. If a team does not submit a roster, they will forfeit any game where the opposition questions a player or players on their current roster.

 

  • Rule 6:

Adult substitutions will be done “on the fly.”

Youth substitutions will be done at the discretion of the referee during a stoppage of play.

 

  • Rule 7:

If two (2) Cautions (yellow card) are given to one player in one game they will be suspended and fined.

If one (1) Red Card is given to a player in a game they will be suspended and fined.

When a player is given a red card, his/her team must play down for the remainder of the game.

There will be NO spitting at another individual or in the facility. If a player is caught spitting on the field, it will result in a YELLOW card.

 

  • Rule 8:

During a free kick the opponents must be five (5) yards from the ball.

 

  • Rule 9:

Three (3) points will be awarded for a win, one (1) point will be awarded for a tie (regular season).

Playoff games ending in a tie will be determined by a set of five (5) penalty kicks.  Any player on the roster can take the penalty kick.  (Co-Ed (3) Males (2) Females).  If there is no determined winner at the end of the set of penalty kicks, a “1 for 1” sudden victory of penalty kicks will determine the victor.

 

  • Rule 10:

All referee decisions are final. Sportsplex management reserves the right to change or amend these rules at any time.

 

 

 

 

NEW RULE: Build Out Line – U10 Boys and U10 Girls Divisions ONLY (US Soccer Development Rules)

 

  • The build out line is used to promote playing the ball out of the back in an unpressured setting
  • When the goalkeeper has possession of the ball, either during play (from an opponent) or from a goal kick, the opposing team must move behind the build out line
  • Once the opposing team is behind the build out line, the goalkeeper can pass or throw/roll the ball to a teammate (No Punting)
    • If a goalkeeper punts the ball, an indirect free kick should be awarded to the opposing team from the spot of the offense
    • If the punt occurs within the goal area, the indirect free kick should be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the nearest point to where the infringement occurred
  • After the ball is put into play by the goalkeeper, the opposing team can cross the build out line and play resumes as normal
  • The build out line will also be used to denote where offside offenses can be called
    • Players cannot be penalized for an offside offense between the halfway line and the build out line
    • Players can be penalized for an offside offense between the build out line and goal line
